Bluebell Railway
The Bluebell railway is set in deepest Sussex and is a real photographic treat. The stations, especially Horsted Keynes are very authentic. The coaching stock is maintained to a very high standard but unfortunately 2008 saw several engines tickets run out so they are running a little thin on Locos with the U class 1638 & BR Tank 80151 taking much of the weight. Hopefully 2009 will see Bullied Light Pacific 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair steam for the first time since Barry scrap condition…That may be my next visit.
My first visit to the Bluebell railway was the "Autumn Gala in Oct08" where the large engines take centre stage but 2008 saw several engines tickets runout so the theme got changed to a Somerset & Dorset theme with the Midland railways 7F the visiting star. This was to backed up with the Spa valley's Jinty, but that failed with boiler leaks once the fire was lit on the friday! Other engines were in the form of U-boat 1638 & Large pararie 5199 and the old SECR 01 & BR 4mt tank 80151. Weather wise the Saturday was beatiful with plenty of good sun, the late afternoon depatures from Sheffield park were effected by increasing cloud so some close up slow shutter work was the order for the days end. Sunday was dull and cloudy to start with. By mid morning i had to travel home (when the sun came back out....) In summary a good weekend all in all, im hoping to revisit in 2009 before the lineside permit expires.....
