Churnet Valley Railway
The Railway winds its way up 10 1/2 mile’s of one of Staffordshire’s hidden gems, the Churnet Valley. Along the route you will find superbly restored stations @ Cheddleton & Consall and a reconstruction of a typical North Staffs Railway station @ Kingsley & Froghall. A particular favourite location is around Consall station where the railway shares the valley floor with the River Churnet & the Cauldon Canal, a perfect location to enjoy watching trains & boats with a pint at the superb Black lion Inn! Umm i like this railway……
A Matt Allen & Warwick Falconer Charter with the newly restored BR std 4mt Tank 80072 on loan from the Llangollen railway, the charter ran with a mixed freight with some lovely Box vans included in the rake. The weather was staggering with a light snowfall overnight, the first shots of the day at Oakamoor were pure pleasure to take. The snow melted during the morning but we kept the light throughout the day. It was a charter of many firsts really for me....Thanks must go to Matt & Warwick for their superb organisation and our crew who worked their socks off for us all day! Cheers Guys, hope to see you again soon.
