GWR museum – Didcot
A truely magical place where time has stood still. Didcot is home to the Great Western Railway Society and the site of the orginal Motive Power Depot (Shed Code 81e), the engine shed dates from 1932 and the site includes hundreds of GWR artefacts from Locos & rolling stock to signs, and buildings. Its home to a huge collection of Locos which includes the nearly restored Blue King 6023 Kind Edward II. 2010 is a major milestone in the history of the GWR, born in 1835 its the 175th Anniversary and a series of special events have been organised to promote it. I hope you can make a visit soon, even for people who dont like copper & brass on their engines its still worth a visit!
A Martin Creese & Phil Neale Organised Night shoot at the Great Western Railway Museum @ Didcot in celebration of the 175th Anniversary of all thats GWR....There were to many locos there to list, but it included 3717 City of Truro & 5029 Nunney Castle with a brace of Manors & Halls. 14xx 1450 was postioned on the Branch line with the Autocoach & there seemed to be Tanks of all shapes & Sizes dotted around the place. Before the night shoot started we had some lovely evening light which we made the most of. The evening finished off with some great disposal shots of Truro infront of the coaling stage. I travelled down with my good friend Andy Gamble and enjoyed the company of some notable photters. All in all a superb event, i extend my thanks to all who were involved with the running of the event!
